VOLUNTEERS

 As the Friends of Upton Country Park we are always looking for more Volunteers, to enable us to keep Upton Country Park, a beautiful place to visit.

 What is a Friend? Someone who is there when needed who will listen and is willing to give advice when requested. Someone who doesn't ask "what’s in it for me" but will say, "I can't do much, but I can do a little".

 That is the sort of person we need. We are in great need of people who can do a little. A little sometimes goes a long way, if enough of us do it together.

 CAN YOU HELP?

 Are you shy, and don't want to push yourself? Many of the best started in this way, sitting at a door at a Craft Show, taking the money and issuing a ticket.

 Are your fingers green? Help is always needed in the Plant Centre!

 Are you lonely but can make tea? Some started in the Kiosk that way, there is always someone to talk to.

 Do you prefer the wide-open spaces? Would you consider patrolling the grounds, giving friendly advice to our visitors? Can you identify trees, birds and plants, or say where the nearest toilet is or the quickest way to a phone, or first aid point?

 Are you the sort of person who prefers to act in an official capacity, e.g. know how to carry out the functions of a Fundraiser, or are you skilled in Social functions?

 Would you like to do research, interview former workers and staff from the days of the Llewellins?

 Are you skilled at Audio History (or Sound Archives) and can work from home?

 Have you ways in which to increase our Membership, do Surveys, and gauge Public Opinion? Are you a Speaker who could take out our Slide shows?

 Yes, I know we have some people doing these sorts of jobs, but no one lasts forever, and understudies are always needed.

 Why not ensure that you join a SUCCESSFUL TEAM, and make it better.

 The Friends of Upton Country Park are all Volunteers, many of whom give up some of their valuable time to help in keeping Upton Country Park and Upton House a beautiful place to visit.
